What is DSSAT?
Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) is a software application program that comprises crop simulation models for over 28 crops (as of v4.5). DSSAT is supported by data base management programs for soil, weather, and crop management and experimental data, and by utilities and application programs. The crop simulation models in DSSAT simulate growth, development and yield as a function of the soil-plant-atmosphere dynamics, and they have been used for many applications ranging from on-farm and precision management to regional assessments of the impact of climate variability and climate change. It has been in use for more than 20 years by researchers, educators, consultants, extension agents, growers, and policy and decision makers in over 100 countries worldwide.

What is APSIM?
APSIM, the Agricultural Production Systems sIMulator, is nationally and internationally recognised as a highly advanced cropping system simulator. APSIM simulates the growth of crops and cropping sequences for specific locations. It contains an ever increasing number of plant modules (currently 20) with additional modules for water, soil nitrogen, soil organic matter, soil phosphorous, erosion and land management. It includes the capability to interface with seasonal climate forecasts based on the state of the ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation) system and has recently been extended to deal with agroforestry systems and crop-weed interactions.

What is AquaCrop?
AquaCrop is the FAO crop-model to simulate yield response to water of several herbaceous crops. It is designed to balance simplicity, accuracy and robustness, and is particularly suited to address conditions where water is a key limiting factor in crop production. AquaCrop is a companion tool for a wide range of users and applications including yield prediction under climate change scenarios.

QuadUI is a simple desktop application for converting crop modeling data to standard AgMIP format (JSON) and then translating to compatible model-ready formats for multiple crop models. Currently, the application reads weather, soil and field management information in either DSSAT format or a harmonized AgMIP csv format. Output formats currently supported are DSSAT and APSIM.
